Iron Man’s Helmet Prop – Modeling and Texturing

The helmet of Iron Man is the last hero prop I created for several weeks.

This project began as a hard surface modeling practise four years ago that I couldn’t finish in that time. Also I am a fan of Marvel films, especially of Iron Man character. For that reasons, I decided to recover my old model to improve it with UVmaps and textures. First, I searched for a lot of references of Iron Man to study the shapes and materials.

The hero asset was modeled in Maya for the low and high poly. Also, I modeled the inner of the helmet in separated pieces to animate the assembly as the film. Then I unfolded the UVmaps in different UDIMs and created the Arnold’s shaders with textures I created in Substance Painter. Finally I set a three spot’s lighting and rendered the final image in Arnold Renderer. The postproduction was made in After Effects.

I enjoyed a lot with all process and I hope you like it.
